A Marvelous Work and A Wonder: How I Want to Use Social Media to Bless the World

May 30, 2024 by S. R. Watts

Looking back on my earlier years, I can remember a time when social media wasn’t as prevalent in the everyday lives of people around the world. Heck, the internet was barely making its way into the mainstream when I was in grade school, and even then few people could have fathomed just how integral that would become to the fabric of society. It was a simpler time when snail mail and landline phone calls were the main means of communicating with those we loved over long distances, and any relationship that was worth having required both people to be together in the same spot. Now, you can connect with anyone anywhere thanks to the many apps and electronic devices that are available to use in the year 2024.

If you had asked me a decade ago how I felt about such technological progress, I would have said it was all too much. Why did we need so many platforms to convey our every thought and opinion to the world, most of which I felt were tedious and not worthy of our time or attention? How come I needed to keep pace with the evolving landscape of social media when I couldn’t even see the point of having an account for every app that happened to come into existence? Even if it was important to build my career as an author, why couldn’t I just write my books and then have someone else do the anxiety-inducing job of promoting them for me? I’m not comfortable with having so much attention being focused on me, so why should I even try to tackle this new digital environment that was likely going to lead to a nervous breakdown, thus crushing my hopes and dreams in the proccess?

Well, the answer is simple: I have a story that needs to be told. I’m not just talking about my novels, for they are in part a product of my life experiences. I’m talking about the story of me, a man who was born into adversity and who learned to overcome his demons and rise above everyone's expectations to create something truly remarkable with his life. Thirty years ago, such a story wouldn’t have had a chance to be told without the gatekeepers of the mainstream media taking it up to broadcast it to the world. But now, with so many channels available to me and countless others around the world, I have the ability to share my life with anyone who wants to listen, and all it would take for me to do this is some understanding of how each platform works and the people who are on it every day.

Plus, the ways in which each platform changes over time opens up new opportunities for users like myself to innovate with the ways they create content and upload it to users on social media. For example, I am working to create a new type of reading experience for those who love books, making it available on social media in a way that is accessible to as many people as possible. While I am still figuring out some of the details, I do know that such opportunities to experiment with established mediums of entertainment wouldn’t have been possible without platforms like YouTube or Facebook. It gives me hope that somehow, with enough time, effort, and ingenuity, I will finally achieve my dreams and break into the mainstream as a renowned fantasy author.

Of course, I know that such opportunities haven’t come into existence by mere coincidence. I know with all my heart that such technological innovations were inspired by The Divine forces that govern this world as a means of enabling Their agents to perform many extraordinary works. No longer will the arbiters of truth be those who once served as the gatekeepers of mass communication in this world. Now, anyone can gain influence if they are willing to work for it, and the agents of the Divine will labor with all their might to inspire as many people as possible to come to know of the wonders of Eternity. This is their mission in life, and this is the reason for the blessings of social media that so many people now enjoy. It is a marvelous work and a wonder, and I am grateful that I have the opportunity to take part in this, the dawning of a new age.
